Nation celebrates 63rd Republic day

Nation is celebrating 63rd Republic day today even country’s rich cultural diversity and military might displayed at gala parade from Raisina Hills to Red Fort in the national capital.

Elaborate security arrangement were in place to ensure peaceful celebrations.

Over 25,000 police personnel, including those from paramilitary forces and sharpshooter from NSG have been deployed in the run-up to the celebrations, which was attended by the Chief Guest Yingluck Shinwatra, the first woman Prime Minister of Thailand.

At Rajpath, President Pratibha Devisingh Patil unfurl the tricolour and take the salute of marching contingents. The President conferd Gallantry awards.

Besides the air defence measures, helicopters of the Indian Air Force hoverd around Rajpath and all along the route of the parade.

Nine Metro stations in central Delhi  remain closed for six hours and services partially curtailed on three lines on the occasion of Republic Day.

Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan, Race Course, Khan Market, Barakhambha Road, Mandi House and Pragati Maidan will be closed from 6 AM to 12:30 PM.
